24 hours to go #unvamped

It is now only 24 hours until unvamped is available on the Eternal Press website – although, as it is going to be 1st June for me earlier, I shall start celebrating in about 8 hours!!

Don’t forget the unvamped launch from 6pm on Friday 6th June in Adelaide. Books, nibbles and drinks will be available on the night (food and drink will be free 🙂 ) plus some freebies.

Exciting times ahead 🙂

general update

Well, the past two weeks have been filled with 17-hour editing sessions, sleep, and resting my tendinitis – for which my wrist thanks me.

All that work now means we have found ourselves two days away from the unvamped release date and less than one week away from the launch!! The print books are winging their way to me and I have a lot of last minute organisation to do. Not in the least, I need to find my usb which has momentarily disappeared…I need to put a tracking device on that thing. And, I must be a better aunt and get my niece a birthday present.

I have also been sorting giveaways for the Adelaide Launch, which is very exciting, but I must be good and not spoil the surprise 🙂

My ‘Sentence a Day’ venture will be re-started in earnest from June.

You can now find unvamped on the Eternal Press website at: http://www.eternalpress.biz/book.php?isbn=9781629292700. They sell ebook versions (which will be available at 12:01am Pacific Time (US) on June 1st). You can also find ebooks on Amazon within 24 hours of then, and print editions soon to follow. I’ll give more info when I have it 🙂

I must get back to my mandarin marmalade making now,

What was the last thing you cooked/baked?

In the middle of working hard, I decided I needed a snack. We had filo triangles in the freezer and I decided I could indulge. So,I went to heat the oven up while I continued working. As I was typing away, I began to smell hot oven with something slightly burning. Without me realising, almost an hour had passed. I rushed out, expecting the bits of dirt in the oven to be on fire, and found two potatoes and some bits of pumpkin that had been forgotten the night before.

What’s the next book you’re going to read?

What’s not the next book I’m going to read? With the final instalment of Obernewtyn out later this year, I’ll need to reread the series so I will be getting onto that soon. I’ve also nearly finished City of Bones and not finished that series so I will probably read the next one of those first. I also need to finish Dreams of Gods and Monsters

How much time do you spend travelling to and from work?

The car ground to a halt. From behind, there was a chorus of tooting and yelling. I looked in the rear-view mirror and saw the cars piling up behind mine. I looked ahead, knowing there was another twenty minutes at least until I got to work. I looked left.

There was a coffee shop. A generic little coffee shop with signs for muffins and cakes, and meal deals.

I looked forward again, about to resign myself to another day at work.

The next thing I knew, my hand was on the door handle and I was out of the car.

The tooting was louder and the yelling more intense. But, I flicked my hair and headed to the coffee shop.

I had left my car door open. I had left my car engine running.

Let it be someone else’s problem, I thought, I’m out for the day.

May I do some writing this month?

It’s the start of Month 2! And very little actual writing has been achieved since the beginning of this site, so that is my first goal for May. Starting now, I will aim to write a little bit each day based on the prompts in my “A Sentence A Day” diary – I’m just going to flesh it out to at least a paragraph a day and try to get some story snippets out of it.

Two new posts have been put up under Tips & Tricks – I’m not in love with the formatting abilities still but its something to start with at least.

Tonight is time to relax, maybe have some wine and watch some movies with the husband. Work is about as un-hectic as it can be now. Just a bit more to do over the weekend and I’m finished on that task 🙂 Its then onto less stressful, easier pastures next week! Hopefully with built in writing time!!

Am off now to do my Sentence for today, have a good night/day (wherever you may be!)

Plot Arc Table Template

Here you can see my Plot Arc Table Template. To make it your own, all you need to do is download the word version (below) and replace my example Arcs with your own, or create a table in your choice of program. You can add or subtract columns and rows depending on the number of chapters and Arcs you are planning. Sometimes, I leave a square blank because nothing significant happens for that Arc/Character in that chapter. I find this is a really great method for planning out your story and ending up with a well-rounded narrative. I find that the pacing flows better if I have it all planned like this before hand, the plot has less (to no) holes, and the characters tend to follow more believable development patterns. It won’t work for everyone, but I encourage you to try it, and to make it your own!
